City Parks
The City of Belle Plaine has seven public parks for you to enjoy. The parks and locations are:
ANDERSON PARK: For its size, .7 acres, this park experience heavy usage from the area residents. A creative play area, shelter house, and restrooms make it a good place for small groups. Anderson is located at the corner of 5th Avenue and 11th Street.
BEAUTIFUL PLAINES PRAIRIE PARK: A pavilion is available for rent. The native grasses are established. This park is developed with walking trails throughout the park. A driveway and parking lot is also located at the park as well as tables and benches. The park is located at the intersection of 7th Avenue (Hwy 21) and 1st Street.
BOX MEMORIAL PARK: Trees, shrubs and wildflowers highlight this park is a natural setting. Take a stroll through Belle Plaine's most beautiful park on our 1/3 mile concrete trail, and then relax in the gazebo or on one of our many benches located throughout the park. A shelter house is available. This is a park that both young and old can enjoy. Located on the East side of town, between E. 13th and 15th Streets. Contact the Parks and Recreation Department if you're interested in adopting a flowerbed or dedicating a bench in memory of a loved one.
DRAHN PARK: This park is divided by 16th Street and 10th Avenue. Two ball fields, a playground, and a picnic area sit in the south part of the park. North of 16th Street is an open lot used for a variety of practices and parking during busy nights at the ball fields.
FRANKLIN PARK: Twenty-eight acres with trees and open grass areas. The largest park within the city with a variety of opportunities to recreate. Camping area, aquatic center, a tennis court, pickleball courts, sand volleyball courts, and a baseball field are just a few of the facilities. Two shelters are also available for rent throughout the summer. Additional features in Franklin include playground equipment and an 18-hole disc golf course. Franklin is located at the intersection of 10th Avenue and 11th Street.
LARRY SCHLUE MEMORIAL SOUND PARK: A beautiful location in downtown Belle Plaine is welcoming to the eye and offers a calming area with pergolas and benches to relax and enjoy. Also, enjoy the amazing art display and rose bushes throughout the park.
WILLE PARK: This small, beautiful park is an ideal setting to have a picnic or just lounge around. Located at the corner of 5th Avenue and 6th Street.
WILLIAMS PARK: Another diverse, neighborhood park with playground equipment and a basketball court located on the corner of 7th Avenue and 16th Street. This quiet setting is an ideal park for family gatherings. One shelter available for rental.
